In the biology and environment protection fields, Zhanjiang City Government has worked out the policies of mainly preservation of environment and science development on the other hand. Under these policies, grace surroundings, subtropical forest, relics and remains have been well protected. While a number of new laws and regulations have been worked out to protect the lake. In 1993, Guangdong Provincial Government approved the "General Planning of Huguangyan Scenic Spot". In the year of 2001, Zhanjiang City Government had worked out and approved the "General Planning of Huguangyan and Sanlingshan" and "The Protection Plan of Huguang Scenic Spot".
　　Recently, the movement to plant and to adopt trees in Huguangyan has been full supported by tourists and people from all walks of life. As a result, a number of forests such as the Generals' Forest, On hundred-City Forest, Anti-SARS Forest, People's Congress Forest, Doctors' Forest, Reporters' Forest, Pioneers' Forest, July 1st Forest and Accumulation Fund Forest have been built. Mr. Zhangdejiang Member of the Standing Committee and the Party Secretary of CPC Guangdong Committee, Mr. Wangguangying Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress, Mr. Yexuanping Vice Chairman of the National People's Consultative Conference, Mawenrui, Mr. Huqili and Mr. Hehouhua, Chief Executive, Macao Special Administrative Region came to Huguangyan and planted trees here too.
